Alison Hanks Naney
Owner, RRCA Certified Running Coach, NCSA Certified Personal Trainer, and Licensed Massage Therapist
Growing up amid the wheat fields of eastern Oregon, Alison has always been drawn to open spaces, which took her to college in Montana. She ran her first trail race in 2000 and was hooked on long mountain days exploring the connection between her body, movement and the natural world.
After college and running her first ultra, she made her way to Seattle where she worked at Seattle Running Company introducing others to the trails. She lead group runs and coached youth and adult programs, while completing massage school at Brian Utting School of Massage. The mountains called, and she began her massage practice in the Methow Valley on the east side of the North Cascades, where she also coached runners and taught others to run with more ease. After a recent brief stint in Seattle, she’s back in Mazama coaching runners to get stronger, find new limits, and accomplish their goals.
Alison has been a competitive ultrarunner for fourteen years, and coach for ten. Her holistic approach combines her keen eye for alignment, how the body moves, and individualized workouts. She loves helping her clients reach their goals, explore new limits, and find new confidence in their athletic endeavors. She can be found traipsing through the mountains for hours with her husband and Husky in the nearby Cascades. Alison can be reached at email@example.com.
Owner, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, USSA Certified Cross-Country Ski Coach
Hailing from the Methow Valley since birth, Sam started endurance training when he began cross-country skiing shortly after he learned to walk. His passion of the sport took him to Dartmouth College where he raced throughout his tenure, then returned west to the Methow to train and race full-time on the national and international professional circuit. After retiring from racing in 2014, he spent two years leading a junior Nordic ski racing team in Seattle before joining Alison full-time with Cascade Endurance.
Sam takes his deep base of endurance and training from skiing and applies it to mountain running races, particularly enjoying the brutal Skyrunning circuit. Sam transfers his deep understanding of endurance and strength training to his coaching of runners, backcountry skiers and other mountain athletes. His clients notice performance improvements by developing a strength reserve which translates to greater economy and efficiency, especially on hilly and steep courses and mountain terrain. Sam pursues all manners of mountain activity, most happily alongside his family and friends overlooking some epic North Cascades vista. He can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
