Alison is one of those people. Over decades, the more she tried to “get it together” or “buckle down”, and attempted to conform to structure, the more her motivation and joy waned. A set plan worked for a few weeks, but then felt too confining. Finally she wondered what would happen if she didn’t see it as a failure, and instead flowed with her motivation and natural rhythms. It worked.

Training is simple: apply a stimulus, rest, and adapt. Learning how and what stimulus to apply and even how to rest, can be a little more complicated. But with practice, you can trust yourself and become intuitive with your training, by tuning into your physical, mental, and emotional landscapes.

We often think about training as the workouts, but what if everything is training?
